Our Story

Pug pub #2 took on a site that had a chequered past. Sporadically loved, lived in, lost…141 Regent Street was ready for us.

In 2014, after pug pub #1 - The Fat Pug - got a lot of love from the community, our actual pug Henrietta decided she and her dog friends needed a town centre hangout.

Well, not really…but we let her tell it that way!

Really, the historic corner pub - previously The Warwick Arms - was too good an opportunity to turn down.

When the opportunity arose to take on this beautiful building in the heart of Leamington Spa, we couldn't resist. Naming it The Royal Pug is a nod to the town's rich royal heritage.

Perfectly located in the centre of town, it's an ideal destination for shoppers, tourists, and locals alike—whether you're stopping by for a perfectly poured pint, a delicious bite to eat, or simply to soak up the atmosphere.

Long story short, we found time to turn it into the pub we wanted - and Leamington needed - a few months later.

Now it is beloved by us, our loyal customers, as well as Henrietta and the hundreds of her doggie friends who’ve visited us since.

The Grumble has continued to grow since, and opening The Royal Pug and seeing it being embraced by the Leamington Spa community was a pivotal time for Pug Pubs.

All of our pubs serve the town and Warwickshire in different ways, but The Royal Pug is nearly always the noisy big brother!
